What I learned from my Mass Comm class Part 2

Jessica Michelle Hall Later in the semester, we had a guest speaker in our class, Jessica Michelle Hall, who is both a rockstar and a senior political research assistant. She spoke about the importance of building a personal brand and understanding what you want to communicate to your target audience. This made me realize that I need to create a brand that captures people’s attention, specifically aimed at my audience. I also need to determine the best platforms for sharing my work, whether it's social media or a professional website like LinkedIn. Primarily, I would post my art on Instagram or TikTok, hoping that my target audience will find it there. However, since some people may not use social media, LinkedIn could be a valuable addition for showcasing my brand in a more business-focused setting. My goal is to use my art in media-related advertising, such as for movies, so that audiences are drawn in and want to see more. What Jessica shared really emphasized a basic yet cruci...

What I learned from my intro to mass comm class part 1

Tyler Perry  Early in the semester, we watched a video called Tyler Perry's Master Class at NABJ in Detroit. In the video, Tyler Perry talks about how he branded himself through his movies as a Black man in Hollywood. He offers valuable advice for people pursuing their careers, emphasizing, “Don’t run from where you came from,” and “Have a high risk endurance step out and do things you haven’t done.” Perry explains that while his films provide audiences with laughter, they also highlight important issues in the Black community, such as mental health and domestic violence. His stories focus on everyday people and carry meaningful messages. For example, his movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman inspired someone to leave an abusive relationship, as it centers on a woman dealing with a toxic husband. What I learned is that you'll always start from the bottom and will have to work yourself up to achieve what you want to do in life.

Why I'm taking intro to Mass comm

Why I'm taking Intro to Mass Comm Hey everybody it's me Jackson Pone and I'm going to be talking about why I'm taking intro to Mass Comm. First thing first I'm required to this class for my major which is Mass communications. I'm taking this class because I think it'll help me learn some more things about mass communications and I view it as a first step to my path brick by brick. One thing I enjoy doing is drawing a lot so I'm really hoping that I can do some of that in this class maybe some projects will have that option in there. Drawing is my main passion I've been doing it for years and it's something that I always enjoy to do when I have free time. I hope in this class I can learn ways into getting into advertising because that's what I want to do in life is to make some ads for companies and since I view advertising as a way of art it matches well with me. I hope there's like a project I'll get to do where I'll have to ma...

Why I'm passionate about advertisment

Image
Hi my name is Jackson Pone and this is my first blog post and I'm going to be talking about why advertising is fascinating to me.   My first reason is that advertising is a form of art and I like drawing a lot and sometimes I just thought maybe I should do some art for like a movie poster or just anything media related.  I want to put my art out there but in a different way and I thought advertising would be a unique way in showing a version of art off.  For example I would probably do like a cartoonish ad for Spotify since it'll be unique and I want to catch the eyes of people if they randomly walk by it or see it on Instagram. The reason it'll probably be cartoonish is because most of the time I draw it's usually cartoony.  Like this one here. This was advertising the revival of the X-Men show from the 90s which is now called X-Men '97 streaming on Disney Plus. I like this poster since it's VHS tapes which was common in the 90's and fits in with the show...
